EDUCATIONAL SEATING SYSTEM WITH AIR FILTRATION
in partnership with San Diego State University Department of Mechanical Engineering.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
BACKGROUND
COVID-19 halted our world by being an extremely contagious, airborne virus that paused the whole world in 2020. Science shows that COVID-19 is an aerosol, meaning that the virus is suspended in the air when it becomes airborne. The World Health Organization highly encourages everyone to wear face-coverings and physically distance (6 ft apart) in order to contain the virus.
MISSION
Our goal is to bring back in-person learning for students enrolled in K-12 (and hopefully college-level) by introducing an air purifier in classrooms. This air filtration system must reduce the risk of airborne viruses in school, should be modular, easily-maintained, and safe for kids.
VISION
There are various air filtration systems already in existence, but not ones that are specifically tailored to schools. We want to fully design, manufacture, and test an air purification system that will filter any airborne virus, is modular, and is affordable.
